I recently rung for a consultation. After a timely call back from a doctor, I was given an appointment later that morning. The doctor wanted some tests done by the nurse, which was undertaken within 30 minutes, all co-ordinated by a very helpful receptionist. In my opinion the surgery is clearly attaining the level of excellence it strives for in what we know are very challenging times for the NHS. Well done and thank you.

I had an appointment with Karen, one of the nurses. She was kind and sympathetic, knowledgeable and understanding. I have no problem with seeing a skilled nurse as an alternative to a doctor, when appropriate.

I can't understand patients complaining about getting appointments. The receptionist do their best with the number of calls they have each day. The reason they ask what the problem is as one doesn't need an appointment with a doctor when all one has is a cold which can be sorted out with a bit of self care. I asked for an appointment yesterday and will be seeing a nurse soon.
We have a great surgery and those that complain should try using surgeries in other parts of the town. That's if they can register elsewhere.

Thank you very much for this. We, as a surgery need to communicate with our patients how hard it is currently to recruit GPs and Nurses and with the continuing closure of practices, we are under immense pressure. We will continue to strive to be the best practice we can be and will continue to lobby with the other practices to NHS England for more support so that our patients are given the best care we can give.

It's the first day that I registed in St Lawrence Surgery. My 6 years old son had a cold and the receptionists arranged an appointment straightaway to see the doctors I would like to say a big thank you to the doctor Jon Akehurst that he streched the daily schedule to see my son. Thank you!

They take forever to answer the phones, and after calling 35 times finally getting through they put you on hold for even longer. To make matters worse they then ask what the problem is over the phone and say a doctor will call back to see if its important enough to come in for an appointment or not? When did they ever used to be this bad. Wouldnt recommended atall.

We are sorry to read this review. We are trying very hard to meet the demand of having over 15,000 patients as other practices in Worthing close down due to a lack of doctors and/or resources. There is a national shortage of GPs and Nurses and we are trying to find a way to ensure that the Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics are utilized in the best possible way. This means we are trying to help patients over the phone when the do not need an appointment with the Doctor for a cold, viral infection, urine infection etc. We also hoped the new phone system would help patients understand how long it will be before their call is answered.
